From: OSU-Cascades Wellness, Health Services, Safety, and Student Life
Dear OSU-Cascades Campus Community,
We are excited to announce that Naloxone kits have been placed in all 16 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across the OSU-Cascades campus, including the campus safety vehicle. These kits are available for use by anyone who suspects an opioid overdose. Please be aware that opening an AED cabinet will automatically notify emergency services and trigger an alarm. Always call 911 as a backup and communicate with dispatch to ensure help is on the way. The AED cabinets are regularly maintained and inspected each term by the Campus Safety staff.
Importance:
Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Having these kits readily available ensures immediate action can be taken in case of an emergency, potentially saving lives. Deschutes County has seen a troubling increase in opioid-related deaths, primarily linked to fentanyl. By making Naloxone kits accessible, we aim to enhance campus safety and support our community in combating the opioid crisis. In addition to these accessible kits, use this map to find free Naloxone or pharmacies that carry it for purchase.
